who wants to name our movie?!?
so, we (i) have kind of cooled on the title (drift) and am more or less coming up blank for potential new names... we had this issue during the writing phase too and cycled through about seven or so names before settling (settling) on "drift". so if anyone has any bright ideas they'd like to share, please to post them in the comments section for this entry. if you happen to suggest a title that we fall in love with, we'll probably steal it from you and make no mention of its true origin in either public or private conversations. but there's always the off-chance that we'll throw you a bone and give you an associate producer credit or something.

Matt - do you remember the rename the band drama? Are you sure it's best to ask some of these people to rename something?
yeah, i remember. but the difference here is that i rule supreme! i mean, joe should sign off on any major changes, but we don't have a party of five to appease... anyway, i'm just curious to see if anyone has any ideas. (so far, the answer is "no".)
Word to mull over...
Indolent
Apathetic
Idle
Inactive
Unused
Empty
Stagnant
Static
Wandering
Meandering
Oblique
Winding
Indirect
to generate something like:
Miles Meandering
i dig the list of words, man. but one thing i really want to avoid is the alliteration formula where the title contains a character's name and some thematically relevant word - e.g. serving sarah, saving silverman, die hard, etc.
and maybe it will turn out that 'drift' (or some variation thereof) works best... but i think we should explore other options just to be sure...
I think you should borrow from another movie like Will Ferrell and those schmoes did taking a fine movie title from a fine Noah Baumbach movie and giving it a shitty feel good movie about kids playing soccer. My suggestions then:
Terms of Endearment
Two Mules For Sister Sara
Farewell My Concubine
Smokey & The Bandit
Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo
Citizen Kane
Or, choose a line of dialogue from the film:
I'm Gonna Drain It Here
Potato Guns
AAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!
OR take the title or part of a popular song (a la Something to Talk About or It Could Happen To You) to give you a title. Suggestions:
Bitches Ain't Nothin' But Hoes and Tricks
Holy Diver
Paranoid Android
P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)
I Wanna Hold Your Hand
Bitch School
ladies and gentlemen.... mr. bob ham.
How about:
"The Mike Johnson Movie"
"A Film With Mike Johnson In It"
"Mike Johnson: The Man, The Movie"
"A Movie With Lots Of Shots of Joe Ballman, Even Though It's Really About Mike Johnson"
"Some Incedental Things That Happen Around The Time Aaron Rilke Goes To Sweden"
"The Bookstore Scene: Mike Johnson Flirts"
"Mike Johnson and the Morning Beer Binges With Joe Ballman"
"The Johnsonator"
"What I Did With Mike Johnson Last Summer"
"Mike And His Friend Joe Do Some Acting"
"Farmer Tan 2: Everything Is Illuminated"
Just a few ideas.
Love,
Joe
Please please please avoid the formula "(verb)-ing (proper noun)" I hate when movies do that. Saving Silverman, Finding Forrester, Educating Rita, Saving Private Ryan, Chasing Amy, BLECH!
Have some class, man!
love,
Mike
